Everyone from the Netherlands and Belgium probably know Suske & Wiske. When I was a kid I kept on reading those few comic books my dad had. But now I'm slowly collecting some old stories that were still done by Vandersteen.

This scene however is from an old one my dad had, and it's one of my favorites. I like the stories with historical influences best (apparantly it was a special series, see the [link] ).
Lambik gets to be all heoric in those, and since I drew this picture for Harry's birthday, and Lambik is his favorite character, I figured this'd be a good pick.

Took me nearly 2 weeks to finish this one, but I'm very pleased with the result! I wanted to draw them in my own style, but they should still look like themselves. Lambik was hardest, but like I said he had to be on it.
Many hours of felt-tip pen linework (and pondering on what to do with the background - didn't want it to be too detailed, decided to leave the castle out of it) and all colors with Copic markers.
